I just finished this book and highly recommend it. It’s a wonderul look into Michael’s account of his life adventures as he decides to live out his dreams while finding the simple pleasures in life, back to basics.
Having grown up on various farms, hobby or large, I often reminesce and feel that I miss the freedom and connection to mother nature with gardening, planting, and raising animals. Michael manages to write humorously about the exact little things though however unglamourous, it’s these that make the experiences memorable. I laughed out loud so many times and had fits of laughter, where the staff at the outdoor patio bar looked over to see what my problem was ;) too funny.
Finished it in 3 days!
Loved the cover art as well :)

well, as J can attest to this, I don’t know why exactly I get the urge to create with my trusty scissor using my hair, it’s been a lifetime of rollercoaster rides of highs when I love what I created, and lows of forever fix-me-ups when I’m not satisfied with the results. And poor J also gets a surprise as he often doesn’t get much warning, since it’s impulsive for me. I know J likes long hair on me, but of course that alone isn’t enough to hold me back. A month ago was time again for my 2-4 times a year impulsive creative make-over for myself. I’m glad to say, this time was a successful creative output, just in time for the hot weather rolling in to Zhuhai. I now feel the much needed spring in my hair to give me a spring in my steps. Maybe it has to do with the seasons…

So to follow up on my last post… I did get the contract/project two weeks after the initial contact, and have been and still am working with them on the project. It’s been pretty great. The product manager is great to work with and the company likes my designs. I’ve done 9 garment designs and a couple of repeat print designs too. In a year, I’ll be able to mention which company it is, but for now, I must adhere to my contract… it all stays anonymous.
I wonder where the wind will take me next… in this journey of a freelance designer…

Yesterday morning I got a message from someone who is looking for a freelance apparel designer, which came out of the blue. When we finally did hook up by phone late yesterday, it turns out he found me via searching through Google! Of course I was listed many pages in, but my info had what he wanted, Techinical Apparel Designer. I was gobsmacked when he told me this. How very cool and surreal! In order to see if my desig style is compatible with the comopany’s design direction, I’m now working up a PDF pkg with samples of my various designs… it sure takes longer than I’d like it to. *sigh* it always seems harder to put together something for myself than for other clients/people. why is that?
Okay, it’s now 3:26am and I’m finally getting sleepy. I will finish the rest off tomorrow morning and send it off. Wish me luck!

babyzulu design – a div. of Launchpad Designs Inc. : CafePress.com
Well, I have launched a on-line store with CafePress, to start selling items printed with graphics that I have designed. The first to open is Babyzulu Design, a line for babies and toddlers. If it gets a warm reception, then I will continue with more designs to come.
